Andrey Mamayev

Born in Leningrad in 1965, Andrey Mamayev graduated from the School of Art Restoration of the Valentin Serov Leningrad Art College. In 2002–2003, he lectured on compositional theory at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.

Mamayev’s art is defined by accuracy of detail contributing to the integrity of the overall composition. The fine and intricately tangled tree branches, the barely noticeable shifts of each blade of grass, the turbulent waves or snowy mountain peaks – the artist’s distinctive painterly technique allows him to capture every natural phenomenon. The graphic lines introduce dynamics and rhythm into the paintings, breathing life into the landscapes pictured.
