Valeriy Mironov
Born in Sovetskaya Gavan, Khabarovsk Krai, in 1954, Valeriy Mironov graduated from the Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. The artist currently lives and works in St. Petersburg.
Mironov’s paintings blend mythological narratives, allegories, and philosophical aphorisms written in Old Slavonic script. They frequently offer interpretations of archaic symbols and various archetypes, forging a link to ancient cultures. The artist addresses the subjects of existence, human nature, and sacral wisdom. His characters represent personified ideas reflecting the artist’s inner life. Valeriy Mironov’s art is often compared to the works of Hieronymus Bosch and mediaeval frescoes, given the painter’s unique propensity for fusing the archaic with the contemporary.
