Maria Plavinskaya

Born in 1952 in Moscow, Maria graduated from the Mikhail Lomonosov Moscow State University where she majored in Russian and Soviet Art History.

The most exciting thing about Maria Plavinskaya’s art is that, to her, photography is merely the point of departure on her journey towards the creation of a complex artistic vision. Manipulating the contrast range and palette of her images and analysing them, she assembles individual photographs into large-scale compositions in which every element is crucial to the dynamic progress of the entire picture.
