Anatoliy Zaslavsky
Anatoliy Zaslavsky was born in Kiev in 1939. In 1965, he graduated from the Mural Painting Department of the Vera Mukhina Leningrad Higher School of Design and Applied Arts.
Anatoliy Zaslavsky is perhaps the most well-known St. Petersburg-based expressionist painter, a living classic who has left a mark on an entire generation of artists. He is part of the Desperate Painters artistic collective together with Boris Borshch, Irina Vasilyeva, Arthur Molev, Yulia Sopina, Vladimir Yashke, Georgy Mudryonov, Alexander Rumyantsev, and some others. Zaslavsky is peerless when it comes to colour. In his works painting comes alive in its intuitive and emotional quality and delicacy of feeling. At the same time, he still treats his artistic practice as a deeply private means of self-cultivation and world cognition.
