Alexander Pozin
Born in 1957 in Ufa, Alexander graduated from the Valentin Serov Leningrad Art College (presently the Nicholas Roerich Art College in St. Petersburg). Actively involved in exhibitions, art projects, events, and conferences since 1977, he is also a member of the Artist Village artistic association.
As a sculptor, Alexander Pozin particularly values absurd combinations of shapes, sharpness, and irregularity. Mostly working with stone and metal, Pozin employs his powerful imagination to put to use any random vestige of civilisation. The artist’s pockets hold all sorts of curiosities, including weirdly shaped vegetables and bits and pieces of unidentified objects. All these and other items collectively referred to as ‘things’ inspire the artist to produce three-dimensional metaphors intended for outdoor and interior display.
