Natalia Lavrentyeva

Born in 1960 in Vologda, Natalia graduated from the Ivanovo Art College. Since 1983 and until her death on 11 July 2016, she has lived in Vologda with her artist husband Sergey Lavrentyev.

Natalia Lavrentyeva created oil on canvas genre paintings, landscapes, portraits and still lifes, as well as collages. Blending the aesthetics of the Russian avant-garde from the first third of the 20th century with that of folk art to illustrate the life of modestly unassuming people in provincial towns, she continued her quest for new means of painterly expression.
