Born in 1940 in Smolensk, Anatoliy graduated from the Yaroslavl Art College. The artist passed away in 2017.

A versatile talent, Anatoliy Popov tried his hand at various genres, alternately turning to painting and graphic art, but ultimately favouring landscapes and portrait drawings. His paintings are compositionally exquisite and finely chromatically nuanced. Popov’s imagery is imbued with profound conceptual undertones, often resulting from philosophical analysis of each human being’s highly controversial innermost spiritual life.
