Vladimir Fufachyov

Graphic artist and painter Vladimir Fufachyov was born in 1954 in Uzhur, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and graduated from the Vasily Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art College. The artist currently lives and works in Nizhny Novgorod.

Fufachyov’s creative practice is grounded in signs, symbols, and archetypes. The artist works across the genres of portrait, still life, landscape, and genre painting. He is equally appreciative of primitive art and the symbolism of the Russian icon painting. Vladimir Fufachyov’s characters appear lost in time or, more accurately, existing in the here and now and, simultaneously, millennia ago. The artist seemingly attempts to join together different times and use his semi-abstract painting manner to remind our contemporaries about the culture that our civilisation has stemmed from.
