Gelya Pisareva

The Soviet and Russian sculptor, painter, and graphic artist Galina (Gelya) Pisareva was born in 1933 in Leningrad and graduated from the Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Member of the Artist Village association since 1991, the artist passed away in 2024.

Gelya Pisareva’s art explored the everyday, with motherhood and the lyricism of country life being her favourite subjects. Folk-inspired imagery did not lead Pisareva into naïve art, but helped the artist discover her very own, instantly recognisable visual language.
