Leon Oks

Leon Oks was born in 1939 in Zhitomir, Ukranian SSR, and currently lives and works in the US.

Working across various genres, the artist proves to be equally proficient in all. His forest landscapes and pictures of the Russian village life capture the wonderful moments of his own youth. Oks’s infatuation with innate femininity is evident both in his expressionist painting manner and in the abundance in his works of the pointedly womanlike figures whose intricate entanglements are somewhat reminiscent of DNA spirals.
