Sergey Evsin

about the artist

Born in 1960 in Ufa, Sergey Evsin graduated from the Valentin Serov Leningrad Art College and studied at Victor Reihet’s workshop under the auspices of the Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture as non-matriculated student.

Evsin’s preferred media are oil on canvas and watercolour, most frequently used for landscapes – urban and rural, but more often somewhere at the cross between the two. His works are characterised by vibrant colours, expressive lines, dynamic compositions, and variety of textures. The generality of imagery allows Sergey Evsin’s landscapes to transcend genre boundaries, turning his artistic practice into an emotional and philosophical investigation of reality.
