Avetisian Arsen

Arsen Avetisian (1971–2004) was born in Yerevan and graduated from the Yerevan State Fine Arts and Theatre Institute. The artist lived and worked in St. Petersburg.

Arsen’s artistic journey in St. Petersburg started in 1993 with delicate and exquisite small statuary projects. After several years, the artist became fully focused on large-scale urban sculptures, creating them in series. The best known of these are: Rivals, Venice, Libido, and Underwater Kingdom. The courtyard of the Philology Department of the St. Petersburg State University is still graced with Avetisian’s sculptural composition entitled Thinking About the Little Prince, while the guests of the Ciniselli Circus are being greeted by The Circus Has Arrived sculpture.
