Alexander Alkhovsky

Alexander Alkhovsky was born in Leningrad in 1947 and graduated from the Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. He currently lives and works in Germany. 

Alkhovsky is a prominent representative of the Leningrad school of painting, belonging to the post-WWII generation of artists whose oeuvre spoke about them and their time in new and compelling ways. Alexander Alkovsky’s distinctive brand of ‘analytical Cubism’ explores the dark side of the human nature. His paintings evoke a fragmented, uninviting, confrontational world – a kind of a horror mask draped over reality.
