Andrey Ostashov
about the artist
Born in 1970 in Lida (Byelorussian SSR), Andrey Ostashov graduated from the Department of Sculpture of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in Minsk. The artist lives and works between Minsk, Belarus, and Pietrasanta, Italy, the latter being the place where his sculptures are currently cast.
Working with bronze and stone, Ostashov weaves imaginary narratives mixing contemporary phenomena with western and eastern mythology. The artist is particularly apt at accurately conveying the inner states of his characters: Andrey’s sculptures are always engaged in a profound and emotional dialogue with the viewer.
