Matthias Verginer

Matthias Verginer was born in 1982 in Bressanone, Italy, into the family of a sculptor and woodcarver. He received his initial artistic training at the school of arts of Selva Val Gardena, studying advertising graphics and sculpture. The artist lives and works in Ortisei in North Italy.

In his creative practice, Verginer strikes a fine balance between traditional woodcarving methods and contemporary artistic sensibilites. His lively and eye-catching sculptures are often imaginative and full of humour and irony.
