Gianmaria Potenza

Italian artist, sculptor and designer Gianmaria Potenza was born in 1936 in Venice where he still lives and works. It was here that he set up his studio back in the 1950s, while still being a student at the Art Institute. Potenza is a frequent participant of the Venice Biennale.

The artist continues experimenting, creating his works with unfailing passion and curiosity and exploring new techniques and materials, from mosaic to bronze, from handmade paper to steel, from industrial glass to marble. His creations are the epitome of unique and authentic art: inextricably linked to Venice, to the reflections and lights of the Venetian Lagoon, and to the city’s traditions, they convey joy, playfulness, and an aspiration for beauty.
