Alexandra Efimova

about the artist

Born in Bryansk in 1989, Alexandra Efimova graduated from the Bryansk Art College and later from the Russian Academy of Arts’ Repin Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg.

The principal subject explored by Efimova’s art is the human being in the era of digital technology. Time accelerates, with everything around us changing rapidly: that is why the artist often uses the device of a flashing, fuzzy frame. Reality transforms into a world of illusion, faces and bodies become increasingly less significant, human beings lose their uniqueness and, even more crucially, turn into something secondary, at times blending with their surroundings. The artist often draws on her own experience, feelings, and emotions triggered by interactions with the world and other people.
