Sergey Sergeyev

Sergey was born in 1953 in Leningrad. In 1973, he graduated from the Stage Design Department of the Valentin Serov Leningrad Art College.

Sergey Sergeyev is one of the key figures of the Leningrad/St. Petersburg non-conformist art, member of the Alipius artist collective, co-founder of D137 Gallery and art club, and inventor of the Palimsest and Captcha styles, the former combining multiple layers, archaic references, and elements of symbolism, the latter, according to the artist, intended to evaluate the artificialness of intelligence in those contemporaries who are no longer capable of comprehending a visual image and enjoying contemplation.
