Denis Lotaryov
Born in 1983 in Mineralnye Vody, Denis Lotaryov graduated from the Mitrofan Grekov Rostov Art College in 2003 and the School of Graphic Arts of the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in St. Petersburg in 2012. Additionally, in 2021, the artist graduated from the Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art under the auspices of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).
Interdisciplinary artist Denis Lotaryov is active in many fields, including painting, sculpture, graphic arts, installation, performance, video, and new media art. A professional diver since 2005, Denis has made more than 1000 dives, over 100 of them under the ice of the White Sea and Lake Baikal. Since 2018, he has been creating biomorphic underwater sculptures as part of his Polymer Hydrosculpture project exploring the theory of polymeric metabolism and the evolution of the ocean. Lotaryov’s art deals with such subjects as cosmic origin of mankind, new technologies, posthumanism, and environment. The artist co-founded the Until the Ice Melts ecological festival held in the Arctic region to increase awareness of the global warming issues.
