The esthetics of Provincial Dances Theatre is based on strong submission of external movement to internal movements. Synthesis of music, movement, light, suits, plastic expressiveness of the actors subordinated to main art idea is a major principle of existence of theatre. Theatre became famous in Russia and abroad as a unique avant-garde dance troupe. Theatre strives to be flexible, finding new ideas and artistic means of expression.

The company showed its first performance 1990.Today, the repertoire of the company includes 25 productions along with independent miniatures.

At the moment the company consists of 10 dancers and a few apprentices, which are trained using the methods and techniques of various European and American dance schools including ballet and various movement techniques, such as release technique, yoga, body conditioning and other techniques that provide skills necessary for separate projects.

Tatiana Baganova is the chief choreographer of the company. She is the owner of prizes and awards in the field of dance and theater both in Russia and behind its limits. Theatre actively cooperates with foreign choreographers.

Provincial Dances Theatre is a winner of numerous contemporary dance contests and festivals of high prestige (France — 1992,1995,2000; Germany — 1994); participant of different international and domestic theatrical, musical and choreographic festivals in Bangkok, London, Amsterdam, Rome, Paris, Nice, Dusseldorf, Bonn, Leipzig, Bolzano, Gdansk, Warsaw, Riga, Vilnus, Tallin, Tbilisi, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and many cities of Russia.
The company is a recipient of the Russian National Theatre Award "Golden Mask", Awards of the Theatre Statesman Union of Russia, and others.
