Ark Ovrutski Quartet will play a concert at Erarta Stage on June 28 at 20:00.
Ark Ovrutski is considered as one of the best jazz bass players of the former Soviet Union. His participation in numerous jazz festivals and the international projects asserts in it. Since 2007 Ark lives in the USA where he completed postgraduate study at Rutgers of University and doctoral studies at the University of Illinois. Five years ago he recorded CD Sounds of Brazil (together with Duduka da Fonseca, Craig Handy, Helio Alves and Jorge Continentino). This album received positive feedback from critics, and later Ark was invited to perform this program at the well-known jazz club at Lincoln Center in New York. He strengthened his position in the world of music by the release of two more original albums: “44:33” (2014, with Michael Dease and Ulyssis Owens's participation) and “Intersection” (with Duduka Da Fonseca and Michael Dease's participation, January, 2016). And again success — positive reviews in the eminent magazines All About Jazz, Jazz Times, Downbeat, New York Jazz Record, TOP70 on a jazz chart Jazz Week, and continuous rotation on many jazz radio stations in USA.
In June of Ark will submit to jazz fans new Norwegian Jazz Connection project. Ovrutski's music will be performed by the rising stars of the Norwegian jazz scene. The Norwegian jazz scene differs by its authenticity. Bright representatives of the Norwegian jazz scene are such well-known to jazz fans names as Jan Garbarek, Bugge Vesseltoft, Solveig Slettajel. The younger generation of the Norwegian jazz musicians which got American school experience, is more vigorous and traditional, though has not forgotten roots of the Norwegian music romanticism. A concert promises to be bright and unforgettable action.
By this concert Ark opens the new project — the International jazz subscription on Erarta's scene. Jazz stars from USA supposed to be headliners of this project. Performances will take place with frequency once a month. Performances of vocalists Cynthia Scott, Eve Cornelius, Allan Harris, the Brazilian super star Grammy award winner Leny Andrade, saxophonists Javon Jackson, Don Braiden, trumpeters Jim Rotondi, Markus Hill, and other eminent musicians are already planned.
