Vladimir Antoshchenkov
about the artist
Vladimir Antoshchenkov was born in Leningrad in 1933. Having graduated from the School of Architecture of the Leningrad Civil Engineering Institute, he went on to earn a PhD in Architecture and took up photography in the mid-1970s. From that point on, his two creative passions have been closely interwoven, enhancing each other and informing the signature style of his works.
Vladimir Antoshchenkov’s photographs resemble short stories about the urban milieu in which every object is animate while the architecture is foregrounded and yet inextricably linked to everything that surrounds it – people, animals, and plants, – bearing an imprint of their overt and covert interaction.
