Public Talks and Show Workshops: Textile Art-Themed Activities in October

29 September 2026
This October, Erarta Museum continues a series of events timed to coincide with the Entwinements: Textile Art Objects exhibition

This is a great opportunity to meet some of the artists whose works are featured in the show, discover the secrets of their craft, learn about the lesser known techniques, and discuss the importance of environmental consciousness in artistic practices. The activities will take place within the exhibition space on floor 5 of the museum’s Exhibitions Wing.

At 19:00 on 1 October, join The Map of Invisible Wind, a show workshop with Zoya Lendenskaya-Bolshakova

Discover the art of nuno felting, a technique of weaving wool into sheer fabric, and see materials transform under the artist’s hands to reveal a vision of natural forces, with wool morphing into the sky, small pieces of silk turning into clouds, and delicate viscose fibres representing the blowing wind. The show workshop offers a chance to witness every step of this process and try your hand at creating the textile panel, from initial layering to shrinkage and setting.

Total running time: 60 minutes. The master workshop is designed for 10 hands-on participants and any number of audience members. The event can be joined by Erarta Members upon prior registration through my Erarta account. Note that all valid Erarta Tickets can be easily upgraded to Membership through the upgrade feature in your account.

At 19:00 on 5 October, Daria Sokolova will give a public talk Ecology: The New Mind Sport. So Why Don’t We Play It?

The public talk is free for all holders of valid Erarta Tickets subject to registration through my Erarta account.

At 19:00 on 15 October, Anna Neytsel will present her show workshop The Art of Tensioned String

Experience this workshop to get a closer look at the artist’s signature weaving technique that fuses traditional craft methods and string art. Using only two continuous threads as warp and weft, it produces a double-faced composition without knots or backside in which every line is meaningful. The audience can both follow the creation of the artwork and try making their own: every hands-on participant will create a small double-faced panel that they can take home.

The master workshop is designed for 20 hands-on participants and any number of audience members. The event can be joined by Erarta Members upon prior registration through my Erarta account. Note that all valid Erarta Tickets can be easily upgraded to Membership through the upgrade feature in your account.

At 19:00 on 26 October, Maria Ermolayeva will give a public talk Textile Today: Methods, Materials, Meanings

The public talk is free for all holders of valid Erarta Tickets subject to registration through my Erarta account.
