Urban Boy, a cocktail inspired by an artwork form the museum’s permanent collection

Ingredients: pear caramel gin, barberry vermouth, Crème de cassis

This cocktail immortalises the archetypal boy from the fringes of town. The artist Alla Dzhigirey managed to capture the teenager’s melancholic aloofness – a feature equally present in Renaissance youths, lads from the industrial districts of Turin and Milan, and perhaps even you or us a while ago. The drink supports this elegiac mood. Based on the all-time bar classic, the Negroni, it complements bitterness with a sentimentally sweet flavour of the Soviet kids’ frugal treat – the barberry candy.
